How to Set Your Selling Price

The most common mistake is adding an amount picked "off the top of your head" to the cost. The right approach is to calculate the target margin from within the sale price: commission is calculated on the VAT-inclusive sale price, and VAT (Turkish KDV) is separated out from within the VAT-inclusive price.
Formula
Sale Price = Total VAT-Exclusive Cost / (1 − Commission Rate − VAT Share − Target Margin)
Example: if your total VAT-exclusive cost is 150 TL, commission is 15%, VAT is 20% (VAT Share = 20 / 120 = 0.166667) and your target margin is 20%, the sale price should be 150 / 0.483333 = 310.34 TL. Had you simply added 20% on top of the cost, you would sell at 180 TL and make a loss.
What should you include in the cost?
- Product purchase cost and packaging
- Shipping (average)
- Advertising spend per sale
- A share of labor and operations
The Suggest Price tool calculates this formula automatically with three scenarios (economy, recommended, high margin).
